Locations: Live virtual classroom training,
in-person applied practice, and internship at various dental offices
In
partnership with the California Dental Association (CDA) and Dental Perfections, the Jewish Vocational
Service (JVS) Dental Assistant (DA) Certificate program recruits and trains low
income, unemployed, or under employed Bay Area residents who are interested in
entering the Healthcare sector through a DA program. Candidates who are highly motivated to
participate in a technical training program aimed at providing the abilities
necessary to gain entry-level employment in the dentistry field, are strongly encouraged
to apply. The DA program increases the skills and employability of participants
by providing:
10 week course, where you’ll
earn your Dental Assistant Certificate
Introductory oral anatomy,
dental procedures and dental disease
Dental equipment, chair,
hand-pieces, sterilization
Introduction to the dental
office, legal aspects of dentistry
Clinical skills through
hands-on experience at a dental office
X-ray license and infection
control
Virtual online and applied
practice training. Participants should plan on about 30 hours of program work
per week.
Approximately 160 hours paid externship
Ongoing support throughout
the duration of the program and the externship
Post externship job placement

Basic Eligibility:
San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa Counties residents;
18
years or older with a High School Diploma/GED
Proficient in English
Able to pass a criminal
background check, occupational health clearance and substance use screen.
Please note, testing positive for cannabinoids, including medically prescribed
marijuana, will disqualify an individual from participation in the Dental Assistant
program
